How do breakouts occur and what to do about them?

When a follicle becomes clogged with sebum and dead skin cells a spot can develop.
Bacteria flourishes, creating a production of inflammatory chemicals and enzymes. This in turn attracts white blood cells to combat the bacteria resulting in inflammation. The follicular wall then breaks down, the matter seeps out and a pustule is formed. Although tempting, squeezing of spots is to be avoided as the surrounding area may be damaged by the pressure as well as further spreading the bacteria within the follicle.

The best approach is to maintain thorough cleansing and keep any inflammation soothed. Topical application of anti-septic and deeply purifying products will help healing. This approach will keep scarring to a minimum.
